Running/Driving Lights came on while hooked up to shore power - luckyron1 - 11-07-2009 03:48

We came home to the smell of burnt electrical inside of the coach and then I
noticed that the ground in front of the coach was illuminated. The
Running/Driving lights were on. The dash switch was in the off position. I
located the fuse in the outside panel, pulled it and they went off. Put it back
in and they went back on. I fooled with the dash switch and it seems to work
ok. Have the fuse out for now and the smell of burnt electrical is gone.

Hi Ron:

That circuit is controlled by a relay and the switch controls the coil of
that relay allowing the VDC to pass to the lights.

So if the switch is good, (use a meter to know for sure on ohms scale) then
the relay is picked up. Now then if the switch is in fact open/off then the
wiring smell may be the circuit is made by melted and shorted wire. This
makes me wonder what else maybe having a problem in there.

The relay is located on the large print in your black case. Start from there

Safe travels,

Silly question but is the switch shorted internally? Is the relay involved stuck, burned, or have a broken spring?
