Need repair recommendation - So Cal / AZ - hippieforever3 - 11-26-2009 07:11

I'm currently just off Hwy 395 about 60 miles east of Bakersfield eventually
headed for Yuma.

Somehow (no other scratches or scrapes) I managed to tear part of the original
black water valve off. The valve needs to be replaced and is was originally
apparently glued on.

A previous owner had the pipe coming out of the tank wrapped in something so
without a sawzall, I can't even see what I'm up against. I had the local (very
small) RV place look at it and he thought there was a good chance the tank was
going to have to be pulled and replaced.

He recommended Stiers in Bakersfield but Bakersfield is a little out of the way.

Any comments on Stiers or another suggestion would be appreciated. The most
direct route to Yuma takes me through the far eastern suburbs of Los Angeles
(riverside and Palm Springs).

Gary- there are a couple of rv repair places in Victorville. I saw them when I was working in Hesperia. That should be on your way south.

I guess by the way it sounds you snaped oft the valve oft of the discharge pipe,
right? If you still have some pipe left than you can get a plastic nipple
(Large coupling and slip it over the broken part of the pipe. Then like I did I
just got another gate vlv and installed it. So where is the pipe snapped oft
at? jon

Ernie, Gary,

Temecula Valley RV is just south of Riverside on I-15.

That's where the new owners took our LXi for service.

I think they've been well satisfied.

Here's the phone number and link:

on domestic household plumbing repairs they make fittings that will weld/glue to
the id of old/installed fittings for repairs sake. It may be a good idea to
seek the advice of a residential plumber for a repair. the repair fittings are
not available at home depot and may not have ever been used by a rv tec for
them to consider the advantage of their use
