Ed and Peggy McStay 83FC RB 35' "Lonesome Dove" Lake Charles, Louisiana stonewall bound - Eric - 12-02-2009 11:49 I'm staying in Fredericksburg again this winter. There is a LOT of activities going on this weekend in Fredericksburg. December 7th is the opening the $14 expansion at the Admiral Nimitz, National Museum of the Pacific War. The new expansion is going to make this museum a state of the museum art museum with all sorts of "wow" exhibits. Items like table top televisions displaying a variety of sea battles. Unfortunetly, you have to be a VIP to enter the museum on or before December 7th. WWII veterans have the museum of on Saturaday. Museum trustees have the museum on Sunday and George H. Bush and invitees have the museum on December 7. George H. Bush, the Governor, General Conway, the Commandant of the Marines and other brass will be present for the official opening of the museum on December 7th. Paratroopers will start the festivities at 10 a.m. on Dec. 7th with a "drop in". Then the speeches by the dignitaries, followed by an Air Force fly over. It is unlikely that all but a few will be able to actually get into the Museum on Monday. On Tuesday, December 8 access to the Museum will be freely available. Other related activities that will be a WWII battle re-enactment will be occurring 3 times a day on Sat. and Sun. There will be a fly-in of quite a few WWII vintage airplanes at the airport all weekend and a Christmas parade happening at sunset on Friday evening. For Ham operators there will be some sort of gathering at the Pacific Combat Zone all weekend. Personally I'm hoping to attend some of the BB festivities at Stonewall but I won't be staying at the park. I am not sure who to tell about Suzie and I attending the dinner on Saturday night.
