'05 Grand Cherokee Toad - Michael Brody - 06-19-2005 12:38

A friend who is not online asked me to find out how people have wired '05
Grand Cherokee toads for lights.

He was told that the way the wires are loomed, it was difficult to find a
place to insert diodes. Also told that there isn't enough room to drill
independent bulb receivers.

Your comments would be appreciated.

I have used the indepedent light wiring kit put out by Blue Ox to do
both the Grand Cherokee toads that I have had. Both of them, latest
being 2004, had available empty compartments in the rear bulb housing
to add independent lighting (aimed at the emergency vehicle market per
the literature). The Blue Ox kit is inexpensive, quick to install and
doesn't involve diodes or touching the existing vehicle wiring looms.
The biggest chore is to drill out a 1" hole to insert the bulb
assembly. I would be surprised if the 2005 did not have a similar
setup. Based on all the expensive electronics on the Grand Cherokee,
I did not want to mess with the wiring looms and have warranty issues
if something ever went wrong.

-Mike, Call Blue Ox and check with them. In the catalog it said to
the use the kit on the 05 model. I check with my local installer and
he said Blue Ox said it would work on the 05 model. The number to
Blue Ox is 1-888-425-5382.
