dose anyone know anything about solar systems for the RV
I would like to put some type of system to charge my house batteries that are 48
volt

Jamie,
I have an extensive solar system on my 98 LX. I have added onto a number of time
over the years. We are "boondockers" and spend most of the winter in desert
without hook-ups. Just what information did you need.

You will need a regulator and probably a couple of panels depending on what wattage panel you buy. I think every RV should never leave the factory with out it.Â

Boon docking right now and loving it! Batteries fully charged!

For good information and top quality components check AMSolar.com

They are in Springfield, Oregon but will ship anywhere. They have been RV Solar
specialists since the 70's.

Everything they sell is the newest generation high voltage gear that provides
more charge per rated watt than garden variety systems. Ours has been on the
bus for about 6 years without missing a beat. We dry camp most of the winter.

I HAVE A 48 VOLT BATTERIE SYSTEM HOUSE BATTERIES IM WANTING TO KNOW IF I COULD
ATTACH A SOLAR SYSTEM INTO THIS OR DOSE IT HAVE TO BE STAND ALONE AND IF ANYONE
KNOWS WHERE TO GET THIS??

I noted your reference to 48 volts in a prior post and assumed it was a mistake.

What makes you think you have a 48-volt system?

Stock on a 90 would be a single bank of 6 batteries serving both house and
chassis. I've seen one where a separate engine bank was installed aftermarket,
but the house remained 12 volts. Switching to 48 would require changing way too
much stuff for no real gain.

First guess is that you are seeing parallel but thinking series connections, but
if I'm wrong I would love to hear about all of the changes made to make 48-volt
work, along with the big question: Why?

If they are 6v batteries, you likely have pairs connected into 12's, then they are on parallel with the output being at 12 volts.

Like Gary said, it might be 6-volts in series-parallel. That's what I changed
mine to. In any case, throw a voltmeter on the output and see if you can find
more than 12V (13.4V) anywhere.
