New starting batteries-now nothing... - Steve - 12-11-2011 04:13

Help!!! I just paid out relatively big bucks for 3 new engine starting
batteries for my series 60 and now have nothing when I turn the key! The old
ones were basically dead so I bought 3 new, wired them together EXACTLY the same
way that they were previously and now have nothing getting to the starter. I
just basically disconnected the old batteries and put in the new - should I have
done something else?? Again, any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Double check your battery area to see if you by chance left a cable not attached to a battery.  Sounds like you failed to reconnect all cables.

Well Gary,
Just when I think that I'm getting the hang of things.....I do something like
this - you were right!
I was really not looking forward to pulling out my many wiring diagrams for this
beast!! Thanks so much again.

Steve, What did it do before you changed the batteries? Assuming it did
something my first guess would be something not hooked up properly or did you
turn off the master battery selecter switch in the compartment by the batteries?
Does it do the same thing from both the front and rear start switch. Check the
connections on both ends of your cables. You may have a loose wire where it
goes into the connector, probably a ground cable. Mike McMahan 96 42'

did you clean the connectors at the end of the cables and clean the post on the battery???
