I had an '84 with a switch in the rear hanging closet but there isn't one in the '88. The diesel guys say there is a block heater and it is hardwired somewhere. Any good ideas? Some FC's had a switch in the passenger seat area, lower left floor panel. Do not know if this would apply to your 88 WLWB. It is label as the engine heat with the junction box on the front right side wall in the engine compartment. I replaced mine about two years ago at Williams Diesel, about a $100.00 charge and 30 minutes if I remember correctly.
