Gas Springs - pattypape - 07-01-2005 06:25 Hi All, I purchased a few gas springs for the bay doors from BlueBird, part # 0892604. After installing one on a small bay door the force was strong enough to rip the old rubber hinge. Fortunately, I also purchased rubber hinge material. After replacing the ripped hinge, there still seems to be excessive force on the new hinge material. Does anyone have the correct BB part numbers for the gas springs?? What is the the Orr & Orr replacement part number?? What is the force poundage for the springs on the small and large outside bay doors? Thanks Again, Bill 88 FC Michigan Gas Springs - Curt Sprenger - 07-01-2005 06:35 Bill, I see the same thing, the small gen. door has excessive force. Try using a spring that was weak/removed from one of the larger doors. The weaker spring may resolve the excessive force. Just a thought that I have not tried yet. This will same my head and hands, but I am still on the look-out for a few new ones. I still feel the springs from BB, put too much stress on the rubber hinge.
