a fun survey - Kurt Ickler - 05-27-2013 23:18

When talking about your Bluebird Wanderlodge do you refer to it as the RV, the motorhome, the coach or the bus?....

Definitely a great question Kurt. She's always been "the bus"!

Interesting that most owners apply a female gender to their bus. Tela applied a masculine or male gender pet name to all 3 of our Wanderlodges. When I asked her "why"?, she replied "there is nothing sissy or female about that behemoth of a machine sitting out back there". Therefore, she refered to the prior LXi as "Big Bad Boy". This current LXi, she named "Blue Boy" probably mostly due to its colors. I shall not tell you what she called the M380. I think most owners will use a "nickname" when refering to their bus. It's much more personal and casual than refering to it as the "Bus", "Coach" or "RV". Calling your Wanderlodge a RV is like calling your Harley a motorbike.

I always call her a she cause I know if I take care of her, she'll take care of me. Now you have to tell us Chuck, what did Tela call the M380? It rhymed with???

HaHaHa, I'm not biting, David.

I usually refer to the Wanderlodge as a bus or coach. As for it's gender, it's a male. His name is Foghorn leghorn, yes after the cartoon character. I typically refer to my cars, bikes, etc. with feminine names. However, the very first time we set eyes on him, he had a picture of a rooster on the wall and few other roster things. Both my Mom and Donna's Grandmother used to collect rooster statues...... God, I HATED those things around the house when I was a kid!Big Grin So in memory to both my mom and Donna's grandmother, we left the picture of the rooster (still to this day) and named the bus after one!Angel The picture sits on the left side of the dinning room table on the curb wall. On the right side is a picture of a Roadrunner we picked up in New Mexico at an art festival when we went to Balloon fest one year! So I guess I am member of the "2 bird club" so to speak! teeheeTongue

I also refer to my Wanderlodge as a bus or coach. But, it has no gender. Just chillin!

Bus

But then again, I had 2 bus conversions before I bought the Bird

I usually say 'Mauvelous' and people look at me funny then I say the 'coach' - most people think of a bus as carrying inmates (or school kids)... so I have to eventually just say 'our RV' and sigh...
I think Mauvelous is beyond 'RV' status...
I was watching Kid Rocks 'Rock my RV' and they kept referring to an old (1980s maybe) Fleetwood bounder (excursion?) as a 'bus'... they said so many incorrect things it wasn't even funny...

The Texas Minivan is one of the best descriptions I've ever heard! Smile
