Air valve solinoid - air step
My air step controller is leaking. I googled the part # ARO # 5840-292-02
and saw a reference to this web site and a rebuild kit. Anyone have any further info. Art Weatherly Riverside Ca 85 PT36 |

RE: Air valve solinoid - air step
Art,
Here's one on ebay: item number: 251329468563, and at Grainger: Item number 2F977, and over here at PLCCenter. If you google "A212SD-012-D" quite a bit comes up. RE: Air valve solinoid - air step
I just replaced the valve on mine last month. One of the coils was bad and I didn't have any luck finding a coil to replace it. It was a Norgren valve and not a lot to it. I did take it apart, clean it up and reassemble thinking I'd be in good shape with the new coil. If you don't tear up the gasket on the end caps, about all that's left is o-rings that can be had at the local hardware store.
If your valve is leaking at one of the exhaust ports, you may just need to loosen the lock nut on the adjuster and lube up the adjustment screw with WD-40 or similar. The adjustment is for the speed of actuation. If it's closed down too much for very slow actuation, the valve doesn't shift quickly enough to seat well. The same thing can happen if there's foreign matter at the exhaust port. If the spool seals (o-rings) in the valve are a little sticky, that also slows down the spool shift and contributes to the exhaust leak. The whole valve is very basic and could probably use to be cleaned up and lubed. If you don't want to take the valve apart, you can also just put a little air motor oil (for air compressor tools) in the ports and actuate it back and forth. I would still clean out the exhaust adjusters tho. If you need a new valve or replacement parts just see a local air and hydraulic distributor in your area. I bought the valve, two exhausts, new brass quick connects (plus a half dozen spares) for $140. Hope this helps and good luck! Jeff Jack - TN '01 LXi |

FWIW, I bought new exhaust valves for my step solenoid on Amazon.
