Window Vistas Rope Lighting
I have several blown bulbs in the rope lighting around my windows. Is it possible to replace the blown bulbs or does the entire rope have to be replaced?

Chuck,

While I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to change just a bulb, I've never run across any discussions about doing so. Everybody has just replaced the entire rope. Not that this adds much info to solving your question.

If you have to replace them look at the led rope lights. They're available in 12 volt and 120 volt/AC.
Just do a quick search and they can be found at the big box stores and Amazon, etc.

I've wondered if running the rope lights at a lower voltage would extend the life? I know LEDs have trouble with some of the higher battery voltages seen in our Birds. Anybody replaced rope lights yet, I don't remember any posts on this. How about using some of the LEDs that can be programed for color changes?

I have done this by carefully sliding out the wires with the bulbs attached from the tube. Solder in known good bulbs from another tube. Easiest and cheapest was is to purchase a single tube over twice as long as you need and have Vista put a pigtail on each end. That way you can cut it and make two of the correct length. Be careful when you cut it that you stagger the length of the two wires so they won't short out. Also squeeze a bit of silicone into the cut end. That is what Blue Bird did.

If some bulbs have died, it is likely the rest are not far behind. I'd replace the whole string.
