When I was checking vintage birds/history I noticed that too.
Is that common?
Why would that have been done?

That's an FC, not a PT as in the title. Rear lights updated to later model also.

the front upgrade is a fiberglass overlay. If you took that off, the holes for the original headlights are still there. my first bird was an FC that had that upgrade done
