thermostats
Hello Birders. I need to change thermostats in my 87 pt 40. I would
like the temperature to run, an factory part number would be good to have. Also i understand on trans, it is best to use factory filter. My local DD dealer was very vague on thermostats an also trans filter. Thanks Jack Jones East Tn hot an humid- no rain 1987 pt 40 |

Jack: What makes you think you need to change the engine
thermostat's?? If you do change them out, just take one to the dealer and get one just like it, no need for part number's. It's a fairly easy job getting the thermostat's out biggest thing is draining down and collecting the coolant before you begin. Factory transmission filter?? Sure, pick up one when you get your thermostat's. I always use fleet- guard filter's , as long as you use a good name brand you'll dd fine and as long as your at the Detroit store might as well get it there. Bob 93pt |

Hi Jack,
If you have a 6V92 like I do, then here are the part numbers from DDiesel. You will need 2 seals, 2 gaskets and 2 thermostats. I went with 170 degrees and ran around the desert this past summer with no problems. Gaskets are Part # 5117786 @ $1.51 each 170 degree thermostats are Part # 23503826 @ $39.65 each and the seals are Part # 5132155 @ $12.97 each Have the shop copy the part of the manual that shows where everything goes. That was a big help when I did mine. Shane Fedeli 85PT40 Hershey, PA --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "birdboat44" wrote: > Hello Birders. I need to change thermostats in my 87 pt 40.
