Oil change every three months?
Here is another overkill or is it? Should you change your oil every
three months even if you only have run say 1000 miles? Jon Rebel Bird |

Oil change every three months?
Jon, Valve lash and rack adjustments are a good idea to perform more
often then even the Mfg suggests. Like you noticed with proper adjustment your bus ran better. I never understood why people got mad that they had the valve gaps checked and no adjustment was needed. To me that is like getting a good physical from your medical doctor. Fuelline and airfilters should be only changed when needed. Who is to say when the tank will pick up dirt or your fan will blow up dust on a dirt road. This could be the day after you just replaced the filters. I hear the sulfer bit about oil but think 'oil in the pan' and 'oil in a can' is the same thing. I change every 10,000. Dont forget to replace the oil pick up in the pan. Assuming the the 1000 miles was just a few longer trips rather than 100 ten mile
trips you would be wasting your money. Six months will be just fine. Jon change your oil every three months even if you only have run say 1000 miles? Oil change every three months?
Most of the manufacturers recommend that oil changes in RV usage be
every 15,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first. The newer oils enable the greater oil change limitations. Best is to check the manufacturer's latest recommendations.
