After seeing a Wanderlodge on Hwy.50 near Sacramento Ca.we started
looking into buying one. After several months of internet searching we
have purchased a 1984 located in Rogers MN. It was listed on the
Vintage Birds site last fall. We are going to fly back and drive it
home in April.I have been visiting this site for 3 or 4 months now and
it is great for a gearhead like myself.

Welcome to the Wanderlodge Forum Family. In planning your trip you may want to
take a close look and register at, www dot frappr dot com forward slash

Jim and Wanda,

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the Wanderlodge
family. May you enjoy many uneventful miles of fun in your new Bird.

Rescue, CA? That's kind of what I think anytime anyone adopts a
retired vintage Bird - another one rescued and returned to the road.

Good luck on the ride home. You and the Bird should be old friends
after that big a maiden voyage.

Congrats on your new Bus. In the Database section of this forum is a
list of forum members phone numbers. The members have been a great
assistance with every aspect about my lodge. I even put Curt's
number on speed dial.

One issue with my maiden voyage was the service brakes; I was forced
to make a hard stop in traffic and the coach would not react fast
enough so I moved my foot down the pedal to get more leverage. As it
turns out the hinge is on the floor and I would have to push top-
pedal to get a better leverage advantage.

When making your first $1,000.00 investment on the coach, be careful
not to let the tank overfill and drench you in fuel. the tank design
will not stop the fast fuel pumps.

You are in for a treat when you turn the headlights on at night.

Learn about the sporlan valves from the previous owner or call a
member who has the same coach. Its nice to be able to take a shower

I hope these points help

Gregory,

LOL!
Good advice, but they need to fill up outside of Cali...... I
invested *only* $250 for 105 gallons last Sunday here in Texas. And
then of course I saved a whole penny a gallon with my Flying J RV card!

Jim and Wanda, I usually fill up using the slow setting on the truck
pumps to reduce the fuel blowback. The truck pumps are so fast it
doesn't take but a few seconds longer and I don't get to wear diesel
fuel back into the Bird.
