Conny- does the Turning Wheel rv sell a lot of Bluebirds? It was nice of
them to get someone who is familiar with our coaches to do a PDI

Thanks for the offer! We will be picking her up in Ocala, FL and
driving her back home to New Port Richey (North on Tampa on the Gulf
Coast). We are buying her through Turning Wheel RV, and what a
terrific company that is. Not only have they really gone above and
beyond the call of duty with the PDI, but they are bringing in
someone with Bluebird experience to take us through every system
when we take delivery. I don't know what the protocol is regarding
plugging companies on this forum, but we are 110% pleased with this
experience so far. If all continues well, I would like to share how
great these guys were once we take delivery.

Back to your offer, if any members of this forum are in our area, we
would like to know who they are!

Only when you are migrating... (a "Migratory Bird")...

I get the feeling that most Wanderlodge owners on the list are 2nd or
3rd owners of the coaches involved. 2000-2001 is probably about the
most recent year that will be moving into that category.

I'll be in Texas ... I'm safe!

That was one of my first annoyances... none of the gauges in my coach
has a red or yellow caution line. Is a little red paint _really_ that
hard to apply? Go through your "blue box" and you'll eventually find
a section in the documentation that lists the normal operating ranges
for the various items measured by the gauges. I made up a sticky note
that I had on the dash ... until it fell off after some months.

Still, on some of the items that don't become an issue often, I've
forgotten the normal range, and I get a bit of heartburn when
circumstances show a slightly abnormal (but not unsafe) reading. Your
comment is a good reminder to me to dig out the blue box and re-copy
the range readings on a new note. (Due to parallax error, marking the
glass on the gauge isn't very effective -- there are times when the
gauges go to the maximum of the normal range (on a long grade, for
example) and reading a mark on the glass becomes a frustration.)

This is the place to learn ... and don't worry, we were all beginners
at one time.

No, they do not. That is why they have arranged to have someone who
knows about Bluebirds to come in and handle the PDI. Monaco is their
major line, but they have quite a bit of experience in a variety of
RV's. They have several centers around the Southeast and truly seem
committed to establishing a reputation for going the extra mile.

Welcome to ownership of the finest motorhome built, irrespective of model. I
would like to add one thing. Living on the Gulf Coast can be deadly to the
chrome and polished aluminum on a coach. Anodized aluminum and polished
stainless steel are not as susceptible. Prevailing winds in FL bring in salt
which deposits on the chrome and polished aluminum wheels, then morning dew
arrives and left unattended it starts to eat things. I you have coated aluminum
wheels that will help. Just stay on the chrome and polished aluminum and all is
well.
On the Northern FL Gulf coast headed to Ocala National Forest tomorrow in the
Bird. Going to Salt Springs.

Hi David!

Funny you should say that, we were wondering where all the LXI owner
were hiding!! We even contacted Bluebird about it....apparently we
are the rarest birds of all!! (Are we protected?) I guess everyone
is working to pay off these rigs and doesn't have time to chat...

Anyway, your advice is welcome. We take delivery next Friday so I
advise that everyone stays off of I75 southbound between Ocala and
New Port Richey that weekend!

At this point, we have nothing but questions regarding diesel
operating ranges (where the redlines are on all of those gauges),
toads, basic maintenance issues and how best to store in Florida's
humidity. It's a case of we don't know what we don't know...
But thank goodness for this forum, we have already learned more by
reading the threads than any of the dealers we have visited so far!
Thanks!
