Added a bunch of stuff
Hi group,
This past weekend and Mon. added stuff to our bird in anticipation of us leaving Tacoma in Nov. Added new Zip Dee's to all the windows that didn't have them before. Changed the old fabric on the existing window awnings. Added an Instant Hot to kitchen. Changed the shower drain from the grey water to dump to 3 in. size. Added a dump drain to passenger side so can drain either side. Added electric Drain Masters (one to separate black from grey and one to allow draining from passenger side). Added a new probe system for the black and grey tanks (called Catcon). It works on pressure of liquid not using the existing probes. It is the system used on the million dollar coaches. Nothing can stick to this unit. Got the smooth talker antenna installed for future use. Me thinks that is enough for now...have to go back to work to pay for all this. Bob,
I have one window awning that has a rip in the seam where it goes around the roll-up tube. I was looking at the it to determine how to remove the awning and noticed it was pop-rivited to the tube. I am assuming you have to drill the rivets, then detach one of the arms to unwind the spring in order to remove the material. Does this correlate with your experince? Hi Glenn,
When you remove the left arm from the awning, be careful as the windup spring is on that side. Hold the Zip Dee round end that attaches to tube verryy tightly and slowly unwind it. If it gets away from you, it spins very fast. Right one, no problem, no spring tension. Take tube to bench and drill out rivets. Hard part is finding the existing holes with new material. I could feel them thru material. When ready to reattach, take (my choice)10 turns to wind up spring. If not tight enough for you, can take more, but 10 turns seemed to work for me.
