Air Leak fixed

Upon the removal of the Schrader valve on top of my engine, I
discovered a broken O-ring. This unit I had purchased from Stewart and
Stevenson. The original valve had a seal and spring. This unit- which
has worked for a few years had a seal and O-ring and no spring. I
installed a somewhat wider O-ring and put it back together. Works
as "designed", I guess- no leaks. Wonder why the difference in
components?
