Fuel injection pump - Perkins 4.108
It's not rocket science to remove and reinstall the pump. Did that last summer. Mine was giving my coach a bath and dissolving all the oil that has leaked~[O]

Fuel injection pump - Perkins 4.108
I have a fuel leak on the generator fuel injection pump. It's hard to
tell exactly where its coming from but it looks like maybe the governor housing. Are ther gasket kits for these pumps or do they have to be sent out for rebuild? Any insight is welcome. Art Weatherly Riverside Ca '85 PT36 |

Just went through this one Art. It is time for a rebuild on the pump and
while your at it the injectors as well. Should run somewhere between 450.00 and 550.00 for the pump and injectors. The CAV pump and injectors should take about 3 to 4 days for the rebuild unless they have the kits on hand. The pumps have to be set at 1800 RPM and must be put on the dyno to do that. Art, I wonder what caused the leak??? it could be that the lift pump
that brings diesel supply to the Perkins is pressure set too high. the supply side of those little injector pumps are not built for major psi. Did the PO (previous owner)change the pump? You can also look at the return lines (that cool the injectors) to see that it is getting back to the tank. Some configurations have this line pass the pump on the return to the tank and a blocked or restricted return will build a leak. you may want to look into it befor you run a resealed Injector pump.
