Thanks Terry, I'll check 'em out. No under age drivers in my house,
though my daughter is almost 12 so it's only a few more years. I was always able to buy a cetified realestate apprasial for the
value I needed, I guess the RV guys are the same. I first thought stated value would be a fair way to buy insurance but I can see problems with these overstated values making RV's flammable. It is crap like this that makes insurance a game and the security of insurance expensive. Leroy and the other good folks of this forum who like having replacement insurance for 'pease of mind' end up paying for the few who abuse the plan. I respectively suggest that you cannot "buy" a certified real estate appraisal in this market for any where close to what you think your home is worth. In the case of my motor home, I took it to a dealer whom I do not know for an appraisal. I stated I needed an appraisal which would stand the test of a court of law if need be. I did not give the appraiser a number. I simply stated the number should be what you feel comfortable with, and what it is, is what it is. The premium for the my policy did not change, and I do not plan on introducing heat.

My motorhome and house have not a 'think value' because they are not
on the market for sale, replacement or leverage. Like your classic Volvo, I bet your bus is in perfect shape and a fine example of a '90 PT. The rates you pay monthly recover the undewritters loss due to claims and profit. If appraisers (who set the recovery value for loss payout) inflate the payout value over market value, everyone's rates are set to cover that calculated loss. Since your rates dont increase with a higher payout value, having the appraisal ensures that you will secure a large piece of the inflated calc you now pay into. Your appraisal may benifit Bob and Dixie?? Ben Franklin sold fire insurance in Philly. The largest part of his staff operated the fire fighting equipment. Over the years, Fire fighting got efficient but the insurance rates have burned out of control. I will say I know of real estate appraisers who are working for banks who may be incline to push numbers more in the banks favor because the bank wants to lend money to a specific borrower(that's why I no longer appraise RE). That is just a matter of working with the right comps to put the subject property in the expected target value range. As for equipment, classic vehicles and RVs I work with several insurance companies & lenders and my time is more valuable to me doing the job correctly then it would be by sitting in court and having to defend the appraisal. I hear clients almost on a daily basis who want a specific value and it just goes in one ear & out the other. I can't make their coach or vintage auto/bike worth more then what it is actually worth. If a client keep harping about the value they NEED I just put my bottom on the seat of my truck & head back to the office because I know they are asking me to commit fruad. Divorce case clients are the worst. My certifications & licenses are my livlihood, I feed my family & buy fuel for my coach and I do it ethically, legal and above board. I'm not saying that there are not some out there who don't bend the rules but I believe if they value their credentials they won't. John, Thanks for your comments. I too have great disdain for people
who commit acts such as this. I work for an insurance company that is extremly proud of the fact that we have not had a justified complaint with the state insurance department in over a year. Like you my licenses provide a living for my family and the recreational dollars to play in my coach. There are as you said two terms for people who buy apprasals--fraud & prison terms. I simply tried to say the same thing you did in a softer manner.
