Which batteries to buy?

I searched the messages for a while and didn't find my answer. On my
81FCRB I need some new batteries. I now have 4 6v and am wondering if
anyone has had better luck with some 12v deep cycle to have a few
cranking amps for the engine. Any insight would be helpful, as I paln
to go in tomorow for some new ones. Thanks

Can't comment on using the 12's but I have always had good luck with
Trojan golf cart batteries.

I would agree with Scott, Trojan batteries are the best for the money/amp wise.

In most cases, the four 6v will offer more amps than two 12 v that fit about the same area. More amps means more juice you can use. 

Spend some time online looking at the specs for various batteries and figure out what can fit in the space you have available. You'll soon see that the amp-density of four 6v Trojan is greater than what's offered by most 12 v  batteries that can fit the same space.

The most commonly used is the T-105, but if you have room, you can use the T-125 or even the T-145 (with 260 AH rating). The T-145 has the same footprint, but is a couple of inches taller than the T-105 and T-125.

Note: golf cart batteries usually have similar specs as the Trojan deep cycle RV batteries.

Don't waste your money on good batteries if you have the original B
Bird battery chargers. You will just cook and kill them in a little
over a year's time. (been there, done that). The extra money would be
better spent on getting a new 3-stage charger like a Xantrex
Truecharge 40+, and just get Sam's club 6V golf cart batteries. Mine
have lasted over 2 years and never boiled, corroded or showed any
signs of overcharging with the new Xantrex.

Don't like to disagree with you, but I put four 6 volt Deka golf cart batteries in mine in November 2002 and they are still working fine. Oh yes, I still have and use the old original chargers. My secret is to shutEVERYTHING off and don't leave the coach plugged into shore power when we are not using coach. I also put in a miniture battery shut off switch so there are no low amperage draws like the referigerator or the PMI stuff. Just ran coach today after had been sitting unused for six weeks and had plenty of power in the batteries. If oneof my original chargers goes bad I would use a Trucharge 40 as a replacement, but not until then.
