Time to move on from Autogas and back to fixing Birds
OK, I have learned some things on autogas, propane, cng, but it
appears to be time to move on now that we are off in the weeds about OJ futures, photosynthesis, and global warming. With all due respect to Al Bore, this has little to do with fixing Birds. Let's get back to helping the new guy get his gen set fan working..... Did anyone mention to him that there is 220v direct off the genset to that fan yet? And if the fan doesn't run, the genset doesn't run? At least that's the way I seem to remember it. Right or wrong? Thanks everyone. If the fan isn't running, the genset will run for about 3O to 45 minutes depending on the ambient temperature. Then the 'overheat' control will switch it off. (That's how I discovered that my fan had quit.)
I removed the assembly with the motor and squirrel cage -- took the whole thing to a motor place. Had them trouble shoot it (motor bad), install a replacement motor (the original was not longer made), and check the balance of the fan. They commented that the fan motor is subjected to a lot of dust in that application and that you can't expect the motors to last as long as one in a less exposed situation.
