Elec. sys. remodel - suggestions wanted 1984FC35SB
Thanks Pete,
What you said is kinda what I thought it should be, but I didn't know for sure.
I don't have
any 220 stuff on the bird, but the cheater box does have to be used with two
different 30
amp posts, at least at Holland Motor Homes in Holland Mi. I also found out that
if my
batteries are low, the charger will suck up everything you can give it. If I
ran 2 30amp outlets
I could run 2 a/c, the fridge and charger(trickle) plus TV. This is all new and
I must admit
exciting. I am hoping to get out of Michigan next month, the wife's physical
therapy will
determine that though. I'm hoping Texas will be nice in February Smile

Home Depot has a handy little book on wiring. It can give you a quick course on the different schemes. Big coaches are 120/240 4 wire. Some are foolishly 120/240 3 wire. This is 2 hots, a ground and a neutral. You get a total of 100 amps at 120 VAC and no, there is nothing that runs on 240 in these coaches. Other coaches do have some 240 toys but not ours. 2 30 amp cords give you a total of 60 amps at 120 VAC. yes the "potential" is there for 240 if phased correctly but you could wind up on the same phase and not get 240, just 2 30 amp 120 VAC circuits. You also run the risk of burning the neutral if you play with this incorrectly.

Yes & No 110 or 220

220 can be used, but it is really 2 separate legs 110 Volts each.

There are no 220V appliances on a Bird.

Just so there is no confusion, the cooling fan motor on my coach for the genset is 240v, nothing else elsewhere that I know of..
