Black Water Tank Repair; was Re: Thanks,
Mike,
What caused the pinhole in the tank? And could it have been prevented? Thanks, Mike Bulriss 1991 WB40 "Texas Minivan" San Antonio, TX --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Mike" <mmcmahan1952@...> wrote: > > Barbara and I have spent the last few days at Steve and Pat's in La working on the bus. We fixed a few minor air leaks, added some freon to the dash ac, and the biggie was repairing a pinhole leak in the black water tank. We now know how to remove the holding tanks and freshwater tanks from a 96. It is really not that bad a job. I got a quote to repair it of about $2000 and we probably have 5 or 6 hours in the repair. We have also found some really good food around here. Thanks to Pat and Steve for their hospitality and help with the repairs. We will be heading to Kinder Monday to meet my parents then back to South Padre and work for the winter. Hope to see many of you visit during the winter. > |

Black Water Tank Repair; was Re: Thanks,
It was a little more than a pinhole. Kind of hard to describe but I'll try.
The front tank on my 96 is the grey water, next is the freshwater, and then rearmost is the black tank. There is no support between the tanks, they just sit next to each other. when the grey and black tanks are empty and the freshwater tank is full the sides of the tank expand putting pressure on the sides of the grey and black tanks. I assume that the walls of the fresh tank flex going down the road and eventually cracked the black tank. The repair was made with 3M 5200 Marine sealant. I'll try and take a picture and post it. --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "mbulriss" <mbulriss@...> wrote: > > Mike, > > What caused the pinhole in the tank?
