3 Burned While Trying To Steal Gas From Delta Station

DELTA, B.C. - Police say two men and a woman have been burned while trying to steal gas from the holding tanks of a gas station in Delta, B.C.

Sgt. Sarah Swallow says police and fire personnel arrived to find the suspects' motor home fully engulfed in flames.

Investigators believe the trio parked the vehicle on top of the in-ground fuel tanks and removed a trap door in the floor boards to access the gas.

Police say the fuel was somehow ignited while the suspects were siphoning hundreds of litres of gas into a large plastic storage tank inside the motor home.

Swallow says the two men are in critical condition in hospital and that the injured woman fled the scene and was later found in New Westminster, where she was treated and spoke to police.

Swallow says the three suspects face several potential charges including theft over $5,000 and that their actions put innocent bystanders at risk.

You can't fix stupid. It's too bad the rescue folks got there so fast, it would have solved itself; although a bunch of gas would have been wasted.
