Fan Demolishes Radiator
While driving from CA to AZ today I noticed a FC sitting on the side of I-15 between Victorville & Barstow with the swing radiator open. I stopped to see if I could be of any assistance.
The owner, Bob Johnston, showed me what had happened. The motor was a 3208 non-turbo. The 4 bolts holding the pulleys and cooling fan had loosened and snapped the heads off all the bolts and threw the fan into the radiator. This was obviously not a repair that could be quickly done on the roadside as the fan blades were destroyed and missing. The radiator was thrashed also. The bus needed to be towed to a repair facility. Bob was making those arrangements when I left. So, if you own an FC, it might be a good idea to check those 4 bolts for tightness and torque.
