AC power quit

I don't know what I'd do without this forum. The fan is on hold because
inexpicably my ac power stopped working. We were just sitting outside
swatting NH mosquitoes amdI hear our small portable fan quit. There is
power coming in--I can even hear the battery charger working (doesn't
thatrun on ac?--but all the other ac systems are dead, even with the
generator running. The DC power is fine. Nothing has been tripped on
the circuit panel. Any ideas?

I would take the cover off of the breaker panel in the closet, and
check each breaker for power and check the main lugs. You should see
220v accross the mains and 110v from each lug to ground (assuming you
are pluged into a 220v source using the 50amp plug) You may have lost
one leg of the 220v, that might be why somethings like battery charger
still works.
