Radiator Reservoir
Hi Guys I was wandering if anyone knew the function of the reservoir for the
rad? Mine has a site glass that is lower than the inlet & outlet of the tank. That being said if the antifreeze is low in the rad & the sensor is not working you could still see antifreeze in the site glass. Will it siphon out of the reservoir or does it always show antifreeze in the glass. Is the site glass the only way to know if the antifreeze is ok in the rad? I'm used to taking the rad cap off to make sure the antifreeze is good & full. The cap that was on it was a 7#. Is that the right cap or what is the best to use. Radiator Reservoir
Hi Don,
If the water level in the radiator is low the sight glass on the reservoir should not show fluid. A 7# cap is the correct size. I checked our cap a month ago and found that it was opening at about 4# 's. The springs in these things fatigue with age.
