Luminous Dash Light
Hello,
Looking for help with the dash instrument panel on my 82FC35. After replacing 12v bulbs in several of the instrument gauges, the luminous panel would not light up. I'm hoping that I just pulled a connector loose, but with a limited view of the panel backside I don't see any obvious problems. Does anyone know what I should be looking for? Also, I found several different bulbs, including Nos. 53, 1883, & 1889. I replaced several of the gauge lights with the 53, but they seem a little dim. Suggestions? Any help appreciated! Luminous Dash Light
The blue luminious dash lighting system runs off of converted 12vt
DC and is powered at 120volts (caution...high voltage)the wires go to push on terminals that look like they are stuck on the back of the panel with a blob of silicone caulking, likely you may have pulled the terminal off the fitting when doing the other work. Look for one or two "cubes" typically blue, these often are labeled 120 volts, in the behind the dash wire nest, these are the converters. Test for output. Replacements available from BB and from CapeInnovation (better units, i have heard). I have replaced, cleaned and like you, still have a rather dim dash light set up....It may be just the way it is. You might consider switching the 12vt overhead light unit right next to the driver to a red medium power bulb...you can just use it to check/confirm a guage or check a map. Luminous Dash Light
Thanks for the help, it's so doggone hard to see underneath, but I hope I've
just pulled the connector loose. I've seen the silicone blob thinking it was just someone's fix along the way. Seems like every time I get one item repaired a new one comes along real soon.
