Levelers Died
I'm not familiar with the 82's...do you have a separate gen set battery? If
you do, push and hold your "aux" batt switch, and try the levelers. If they work then, it's most likely the gen set battery or the automotive solenoid that activates the hydraulic pump motor for the jacks (mine is underneath the air step, front of the wheel well). Not sure where to look for the fuse. Good luck... Kevin McKeown Yorba Linda, CA 86 38 PT [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Help!
The levelers on my 82 FC have died. When I turn the dash switch on, the indicator lights work correctly, but when I activate the levers to lower the jacks, nothing happens. No noise, no flicker of the voltage gauge like I used to see when the pump was running, nothing. The pump has plenty of oil and I have recently cleaned all electrical connections. Any ideas? Sounds like a relay may be disconnected or is bad...or a circuit breaker
(fuse too) that is disconnected or bad. Curt Sprenger 1987 PT38, Anaheim Hills, Calif. Scott Forman wrote: > Help! > > The levelers on my 82 FC have died. Scott, you seem to have done the basics, you might try to loosen the
pump motor housing, wiggle it to make better electrical contact, and then retighten the mounting bolts. I had intermittent problems and traced it to a bad ground, the ground path is on my 85 the actual motor housing...a little loose, and some dirt prevented a good ground. One more suggestion...have a helper move levers and you listen at the unit...you might hear something that gives you a clue. And then try same with a voltage check at the relay contacts near the motor. Check for power at the solenoid under the step, and check the wire
to the pump motor. You can also check the microswitch that turns on the solenoid: Remove the plate around the four levers, (four screws and remove knobs), you will see a wire basket-handle which the levers move when pushed to the lift position, and somewhere in the dirt and grime you will see the microswitch that the basket-handle activates. Often the shaft which goes through the levers and basket-handle slides to one end and the basket-handle gets loose so that it doesn't activate the microswitch. - Jeff Miller in Holland, MI --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Scott Forman" <sforman@...> wrote: > > Help! > > The levelers on my 82 FC have died. Yup, I got an idea. Have someone push one of the levers as to put one of the
jacks down while you are underneath grabbing hold of the pump housing an jiggling it. It may have lost its ground which is simply made by virtue of the two mounting bolts through the vertical part of the first step. My fix was to loosen the top mounting bolt from the step side under the carpet, and then slide a sliver of brass between the body and the pump housing and retighten the bolt. So far, this is working, but if it ever fails, I'll know what to do. I also tried running a new ground strap from one of the two motor bolts to the frame, didn't work. But I don't know why. dandarst86fc35rbhuntleyil. >From: "Scott Forman" <sforman@...> >Reply-To: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com >To: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com >Subject: [WanderlodgeForum] Levelers Died >Date: Thu, 18 May 2006 23:46:25 -0000 > >Help! > >The levelers on my 82 FC have died. May be a ground issue from 'Battery to frame' ( battery that runs the
Pump) , flickering amp meter might reveal bad connection that now is carboned up. That battery may have a good ground to the starter on the genset but bad or small frame ground Gregory O'Connor 94pt Romoland CA --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Dan Darst" .
