Cannon plugs
Hi Guys
I have a cannon plug with a bad wire in it. It is on the female side. Can
you buy them or would it be better to bypass the wire around the plug. If you
can buy them. Is there a good source. This plug has my parking lights & my 12
volt inside.

I'd bypass the plug.

Curt    Do you know what makes one wire go bad in a plug of 24 wires?

Cannon plugs
Heat, vibration, moisture, connect/disconnect, wire end(s)/connectors not the best at initial assemble, bad grounds, stress on the wire bundle or a wire in the bundle, etc., all leading to arching, deterioration and eventually no connection.

Just rewire the one bad wire outside the plugs.

Good luck.

Note, too that the cannon plugs are mostly for the manufacturer's
convenience during the initial assembly of the vehicle. They are of
minimal use to the owner -- there's little reason to ever unplug one
other than to look for problems. So, re-wiring a couple of wires
around the plug is not likely to cause an difficulties down the line.

I'd spray the cannon plugs with one of those water/corrosion resisting products
like Corrosion-X. Disconnect the plug and give the contacts a thorough dose.
Corrosion-X is an aircraft corrosion inhibitor which molecularly binds with a
variety of metals, forming a long lasting barrier. NFI.
