help with my perkins
I have the original perkins gas gen in my 79fc35. tried to start it the
other day. The starter sometimes just spins without engaging. I took it off and tested it with a battery. It spins ok but the mechanism that pops out to engage the teeth to the engine doesn't pop out. Am I testing this correctly? Any tech tips on rebuilding this? Also, where can I get carb kit, and other parts? I have a 4k gen from my first RV but don't want to swap out because the perkins puts out more juice. Am I wasting my time? Mario,
Sorry, I can't help with the starter. What city in Orange County are you located? help with my perkins
Take your starter to any starter/alternator repair shop and they will
install a new bendix or you can take the bendix off the shaft and take it to NAPA and they will give you one like it. PS: I dont think you have a Perkins generator if its gas. More then likely either a Kohler or an Onan. tom 1982 FC35 Vernon Center,NYAt 03:26 PM 6/17/2005 +0000, you wrote: >I have the original perkins gas gen in my 79fc35. tried to start it the >other day.
