RV Update #128

We are wrapping up our Vegas jobs today – which went really
well. We sold out one of the guides and came really close to selling out the
other one. We are heading out tomorrow and taking a couple of weeks for some
much-needed R&R to meander through the California wine country, with a stop
in Portland for a few days to visit friends. We will be in Port Angeles, WA for
3 weeks starting in mid-June and hope to visit with some of our old colleagues
while we are there. Then it’s 2 weeks in Seattle and 3 weeks in our favorite
Bavarian village, Leavenworth, WA before we head to Wyoming in August.

NEWSFLASH – I got a
call yesterday from the producer of the Today Show segment – they have changed
the air date to Monday, June 14.
So all you people who programmed your TIVOs, marked your calendars and changed
your schedules – you’ll have to do it again. Or you can watch it online anytime
after the broadcast at aarp.org/jane – the same website you can go to right after the broadcast and
participate in an online chat with me and Jane. How cool is that?

We didn’t really do much fun stuff while in Vegas this time.
We had the bus serviced at the place that rebuilt the engine last year, did a
little gambling and went out to dinner a couple of times. We did get over to
Pahrump to spend some time with another rep team. They took us to see the
infamous Chicken Ranch – the best little whorehouse in Texas (now Nevada).
There’s another one just down the road that looked like it was a lot better –
not that we sampled their wares . . . maybe next time.

The other day a couple of women came into the park and parked
just across the row from us. The jumped out of their rig and came and knocked
on our door, and said, “We can’t believe it – you’re the ones from the New York
Times article!” Our 15 minutes of fame is slowly stretching out to 30 minutes
and our fan base is growing by centimeters every day – go figure.

Got to run to the post office and get these jobs in the
mail. Don’t forget to watch the Today Show, Monday morning, June 14, on NBC.
