Michelin tires / FMCA / towing insurance
Hey guys,
Has anyone recently purchased Michelin tires through the FMCA membership? in particular 12r22.5's? How significant was the discount? Thanks! Mark Kitchens Athens, TX 1995 WB42 |

RE: Michelin tires / FMCA / towing insurance
Hi Mark,
Sorry for the delay in responding, but I was out of town when you posted your inquiry on the FMCA program. To answer your specific question, I looked up my invoice and it was a 28% discount off of the listed unit price on the invoice. This was about 15 months ago for the upgraded 315/80R22.5 XZA2 Energy with load rating L. I chose to upgrade from the the 12R tires for several reasons: 1) the 12R tires were not in production at that time and not even scheduled for a run per Michelin, thus they were hard to find in stock anywhere, which made them unattractive; 2) the higher load rating on the 315 was attractive; and 3) as I recall, the price on the 315 at that time was less than the 12R by a considerable amount. The 315 Michelin discounted price was close enough to a Hankook 12R at a local dealer that it didn't make sense to not use the top of the line Michelins versus the Korean truck tires. The ride on the 315 tires made it very much worth it. Feel free to contact me offline if you want specific numbers. FWIW, Mike Bulriss 2001 LXi43 DS San Antonio, TX |

RE: Michelin tires / FMCA / towing insurance
Hey Mike,
This does help, I appreciate it. I ended up purchasing Sumitomo tires, I used to have them on my FC35, they ran well for me. They get installed tomorrow, I went back on forth on staying with 12R's, the Sumitomo's offered 12R's and they were in stock in MO and the price worked out. Mark Kitchens Athens, TX 1995 WB42 |
