Overhead Dash Switches for TV Antenna & Circuit Breaker Test
1) How do I get the switches out? I've tried pushing together on the
ends, as I figured they just popped in and expanded. That didn't work. I don't want to try prying them because I don't want to scratch the electroluminescent surface of the dash. 2) Is there a way to test the 15amp circuit breakers while in place? I hooked up a multimeter wire to each post, set on volts, and pushed the switch. The reading remained at 0.00 I'm thinking it should have gone up to 12+ volts with the switch engaged. Is this correct thinking or am I trying to make the CB into a relay? Should the multimeter be on amp setting? Steve Harrie St. George, UT Muddling my way thru some more projects on an '86 PT38 |

Steve,
I can't help with the removal but I can tell you how to use your meter. if the switch or breaker has inly 2 wires attached; with power on (12 volts) set your meter to 12vdc ground the black lead of the meter measure voltage on each wire, with switch on and if it's good you'll get 12v (aprox) on each wire with switch off, you will only get it on 1 (the feed side) without power: set your meter to the ohms setting touch the two meter leads together & watch the meter you should see a small number now, put one lead on each side of the switch, with switch on you will get a low number. with switch off you should get no reading or "OL" if a digital meter. hope this is understandable if there are more than 2 lugs (places for wire to attach)on the switch then email me & I'll walk you through it. You should find an in line fuse in the over head compartment where the a/b switch is located with the rotor head unit. Hi Steve,
Been "Hanging Out" on all the Bird forums for a long time (years) even before Newmar. Wanted a Bird since day one, but until I can get the other half convinced we can do without multiple slide outs, etc,etc.... It's an age old story, she's a "Hotel Girl" so in order to at least keep a MH... "new, roomy, Bla,Bla,Bla..... " :-) Some day when the kids are grown & we "need" less room. :-) ( I'm thinming of buying one & hideing it in my wharehouse Just for those times I can sneek out. ha,ha) Scott ======== --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "trvlngnrs" wrote: > > I can't help with the removal but I can tell you how to use your meter. > ... > > Thanks Scott.
