Do you already have a location for painting your coach? What
kind of paint will they use and what kind of cost?

Also, did you ever consider a stop in Quartzsite in January
during the big RV get together there?

Ron the name of the paint place in Yuma is Navarro's Paint shop and it is
actually just across the border in Algodones. When I talked with Socorro (one
of the owners)in June, he said that when I was ready to have the coach
painted he would meet me in Yuma and look at my coach and give me a price on
painting. He is familiar with painting Blue Birds, but I have yet to talk with
anyone who has had their Blue Bird painted by them. However, the guy I got this
information from had his GM painted there and was extremely please, cost of
about $5000.00. When I asked about how long it would take he said if there
was not a lot of body work, about 10-12 days, AND we can live in the coach
while they are painting it. I hope I don't glow in the dark for six months
after the paint job. Quartzsite sounds good after the coach painting on the
way
to HWH to have my jacks rehabed. If I remember the correctly, the cut throat
trout start hitting really good the beginning of June on the St. Joe and
Coeur d'Alene, so we need to in that vicinity by then.

If anyone has a better line on paint jobs, please let me know. I have been
in discussion with Stephen Birtles about having the coach painted there, but
the time frame was long and I could not stay in the coach while it was being
painted.

Tom & Ron,

Navarro's use R-M Diamint paint, base coat/clear coat method. Works
great and lasts. I highly recommend them. And Algodones is a nice
little town. My wife walked all over town by herself and never felt
threatened, either day or night. She felt safer in Algodones than in
Sacramento, CA.

Just received a message from George Lowry indicating that

I've kept some files over the years from the different yahoo forums.
here is what I have on painting. HTH, Steve Harrie :

I used Navarro's Shop, Ave. "A" y Calle 8va., Los Algodones, B.C.,
Mexico. Phone is (928) 343-2750 (That is a Yuma number) Talk to Enrique or
Socorro Navarro. Enrique speaks better English. Their shop takes up about two
blocks and is only about 8 blocks from the border crossing. There is another
painter that has a shop called Mannies about a block south of Navarros. I don't
have
contact information for him.

There is a shop in Sacramento known as the RV Collision Center. The two
fellows that run the shop have been around the industry for years. They made
the break from working in dealerships because the did not like how the customers
were being treated. Now they are on their own and doing VERY well. Had to
move into a larger facility after only a year because of huge increase in
business. They also do warranty work for some of the major manufacturers
including
Newmar.

Raul Zamora at Pro-Tech RV Service center in Seguin, TX, 888-561-2277.
Seguin is on I-10 just east of San Antonio. They have
a full body and paint shop. I had full body paint done on my 96 London Air
and was impressed with the fiberglass work he had done on a 2000 American
Tradition that was in the shop.

The Paint Department in Chino: We just had paint done there and they are

Hi Ron,

They stripped my coach (which was a 35' GM Bus), did necessary body
work, Primed and painted three colors with the R-M Diamint paint. The
cost was $5,000 approximately three years ago. Estimates for the same
work in the states ran from $20 - 26,000.
