A great new wood / tile flooring product. Perfect for RVs.

I just found a new flooring that is exactly what i've been looking for
for my Bird. I am getting ready to do some remodeling. For the
kitchen area i had decided to go with either a wood or a marble.
...But I didn't really want to use real wood or marble because of the
thicknesses and weights involved. But on the other hand i don't like
most of the fake woods or linoleum looks (at least for a higher end
look).

While at a Corner Bakery here in North Dallas last week (it was being
remodeled), i kept noticing the floor. It looked very much like wood,
but I wasn't sure and i didn't think they would put in real wood. The
edges of each plank were beveled and there were no seams like in a
linoleum type product. So today i went to the Home Depot Flooring
Store and discovered a new (at least i had never seen it) product
called Amtico. http://www.amtico.com It's not cheap, about $5/sf. But then
i don't need a lot of it. They have some that look like woods.
Others look like marble or tile. Best looking product i've seen. For
"wood", it is sold in planks. Tiles are tile-size pieces. They also
have decor pieces.

Take a look if you're thinking about doing new floors.

I'll also be replacing carpet. Any secrets you guys have discoved
about doing that or choosing carpets that I need to know?

Alan, Amtico is good stuff. I used their tile product in a raised
pattern in copper for my entry way area in our Hot Tub store. Always
looks great & no maintenance required. I believe it is made in Europe
as I recall. Lots of good colors & patterns to choose from too. I
think I may use it for the steps in my PT entry way.

Alan, sounds great. Recently my neighbor, a fiberglass guy, worked on
a 42 Grand Banks traweler here and he installed a "feaux teak"
flooring product that really looked like the real deal. Texture very
similar to wood on one side, comes in strips that tongue and groove
together and could be cut with shears and a razor knife. It was a
rubber type product He cut it and glued it to the deck.It turned out
exceptionally good looking and really easy to work with. I would
think the biggest "issue" if there is one is the underlayment being
in good shape. But then again that would be the case in any event
regardless of what is used. I know how simple projects can turn into
major ordeals really quick.
