Aqua Hot light - - - NOT!!
Darn!!!

The Aqua Hot light has been cutting off during the nite and sometimes while
we're heating water for a shower or whatever. It's not just the lite cuz if I
turn the switch off then on, the lite comes on and stays on until . . . .

When it's off there ain't no water heating going on.

Luckily we're in Florida right now so no freezing temps, but we're heading
back next week and expect some cold temps.

Any ideas on what gives will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ed,

Do you have the Aqua Hot Manual available? If not, call Vehicle
Systems. They are very good at helping you. I suspect that you are
having ignition problems, either not getting a proper spray pattern or
the ignitor not working. Have you changed the nozzle/filter recently?
Might try that first. It is a routine maintenance item. While in there,
be sure to clean the electric eye that senses the flame. From what you
have said, it appears that the heater fires after cycling the switch.
That is why I suspect the nozzle.

>Ed this is going to take some time. first have you down-loaded the
manual off the web? It has a trouble shooting flow chart, it helps a
lot. we will assume that there is fuel through the filter, because
the unit run when you through the switch. We will also assume that
all the fuse are good. If the control mod tells the unit to start up
and the blower comes on, and the unit does not fire, the blower will
shut down and the light will go out. this could be caused by several
things. If the DC high temp stat has opened the fuel pump will not
get power, no fire. If the photo cell is covered with soot, then
when the flam is on, the light is not detected, and the fuel will
shut off, no flam, do you hear the burner fire and feel heat out the
exhaust? I would let it fail then do a continuity test on the DCV
high temp stat and see if it is open. Also the control mod could be
bad. I had a resetable high limit stat on my 95 BMC that went out. I
have replaced all the stats and the fuel pump, there was a recall on
some of the fuel pumps, they leaked, and replaced all the diesel
soaked insulation from the leak. The control stat that they sent me
was the wrong temp range, then the replacement was bad anyway I have
a intimate relationship with my Aqua Hot.
