Black Tank Sensors

Folks,

My LED tank monitor for my black water tank always
shows that the tank is full even though I just emptied the
tank. I've heard that there are stainless steel screw sensors
that I can remove from the side of the tank for cleaning
to get the tank monitor behaving properly. Does anyone
know where exactly these sensors are on my '02 LXi?
I'm having trouble finding them.

David i use a tank wand, a piece 3/4 cpvc with one hole in the bottom
an three on the sides at the bottom i think about 1/8 in dia. With a
valve on the top to cut off. It is about 40 inches. Works every time.
You can buy one at camper supply. The holes may be little larger can
always drill bigger.

Hi David,

It could be an accumulation of gunk, toilet paper,
etc. across the top sensors. If you haven't already
tried cleaning, here is a process that works for us.

Accumulate about 1/4 liquids in the tank. Add 1 or
2 cups of low-sud-zing dishwasher-type detergent/soap
to the tank and drive 50 or more miles to allow the
detergent to do its thing. Immediately after
stopping, drain the tank.

We try to remember to do this at the end of each
trip.

We always have a similar problem. Jack uses the tank flusher until the
LEDs read on the E or 1/4 full on the waste tank indicator. Sometimes
there is some debris hung up on the sensors and it just has to be washed
off by the tank flusher. But then our sensors are IN the black water
tank. Hmmmm.
