87-89 generator overheat
The flat radiator is hard to refill with coolant just by
filling the coolant tank. You must go under the rig and milk the hose to eliminate the air pocket from the radiator. By squeezing the hose you will hear the air bubbles returning to the coolant tank. After you do this a few time, restart the generator and watch the temp gage. If you start to overheat, shut down and milk the hose again. You can also put a squeeze on the return hose while gen. is running. I have gone through this again when I recently replaced my hoses and did a new insulation job. Once the air is eliminated, your radiator will have an even temp. across its width. Jeff Helke 89 FC Madera, Ca |
