Robert- you may change out your thermostat and leave the radiator cap off-
till you see circulation.

I changed coolant in my 8.0 Onan generator and now there seems to be
air traped in the system. Motor is getting hot but radiator is cold,
like the thermostst in not opening.

I'm not sure how to bleed the air out of the system, can anyone help me
out on this one?

Hey Robert,

I tried to squeeze the in and out hoses of the radiator, It lays
horizontal , and alternating the squeezing in and out (milking)
seemed to help.
Also pinch or block the return bypass to the reservoir. This should
force a little more coolant pressure thru the rad. The fan is on
highest speed and the radiator seems to run really cool.
But you should feel warm at the top and much cooler at the outlet of
the radiator .

Got it working!

Just by running the engine with the radiator cap off did the trick.

Thank you!
