Alternator sense wire (trigger) voltage

I would like to know what the normal voltage difference is between the
small trigger wire on the + post under the regulator and the large +
post. My alternator is a 130A Leece-Neville. I checked mine with the
small wire unhooked,engine off,battery switch & ign. switch on and I
had .6-.7 volt difference. Is this normal? The shop I took my
alternator to tested it today and it worked fine at first but as soon
as it warmed up went into max charge. They have to get a genuine Leece-
Neville regulator overnight from the East Coast so I want to make sure
I don't have another problem. We want to leave Friday on a 4000 mile
trip so I want to know that I don't have any other problems. I would
think that as long as the small wire has enough voltage to trigger the
regulator then the alternator runs itself. Jim Matus 84FC35 Rescue CA
