Nissan Versa Towing
Anyone towing the Nissan Versa? My buddy just bought one and all the manual
says is "ensure transmission is in neutral". We all know it is usually more complicated than that like periodic engine running, certain fuses to pull, key position etc etc. No info on the REMCO site -- Rob, Sue & Merlin Robinson 94 WLWB [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

If it's a stick-shift, that my be all that's needed -- ensure it's in
neutral. Key would have to be in the ignition to unlock the steering -- you'll need to check to see what's "on" with the steering lock unlocked. (My Toyota turns on the dash clock, but it doesn't draw much juice. I make sure the AC/Fan is off and shut the outside vent so the car doesn't stink of diesel.) You may need to contact the manufacturer, but they may not give you straight answers. If you have an automatic transmission, it's likely that there's a need for add-on appliances to make the vehicle tow-ready. Since the Versa is a new model, Remco may not have info yet. Nissan Versa Towing
Thanks Pete. It is a standard like my Civic toad. I gave him pretty much the
same advice but was unable to find out if the car had to be started every XXX miles like some toads have to be. That and of course any other 'non usual' towing requirements that may be part of the Versa toad question. As an aside I found a Nissan site with a Versa forum so we'll see what help we can illicit there On 17/11/2007, Pete Masterson > > If it's a stick-shift, that my be all that's needed -- ensure it's in > neutral. Nissan Versa Towing
Rob,
Motor Home Magazine list the 2007 Nissan Versa "towable only with standard transmission". Max speed 60mph/500 miles. Idle engine in neutral for several minutes every 500 miles. The Automatic Transmission is Not Towable. We tow a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx with automatic transmission.
