TV Upgrade
Regarding the recent TV upgrade thread, I also replaced the front one
this past year when the 20" Toshiba CRT started dying. I wanted one that fit in the original opening so it would not interfere with the side cabinet doors or intrude into the living area. I ended up with a 23" Samsung HD LCD (LN-T2353H) black bezel model that fit snuggly from side to side. The LCD units have less height than the old tube models, so I built a quick plywood tray/drawer with slides and snap locks, and with a center bracket to mount a LCD VESA wall mount to. We then covered the interior and tray with a thin black faux leather. That way we can easily slide the LCD in and out as needed. It also gives me access to the space behind the unit. I may go in later and build that space out more to add other electronics, but for now, I have just added a power and antenna surge suppressor to protect the LCD. Just more ideas for anyone upgrading their TV. FWIW. Mike Bulriss 1991 WB40 "Texas Minivan" San Antonio, TX |

Howdy, Mike.
Where did you buy your Samsung? I am very interested in that. TV Upgrade
Jack,
I got it at Circuit City. They were the only place I found locally that had them in the black bezel. Everyone else had them in white bezels only. I don't think they carry them any more, as they are now a 6+ month old model, but I see they are still available online at Amazon and others. That Samsung unit was the closest one in width that I found when I was hunting earlier this year. I was out there with my measuring tape going store to store! There may be more choices now. Also, the smaller sizes only come in 720p. Forget looking for that size in 1080. They don't exist. That unit was so good, we ended up getting a 46" Samsung Touch Of Color model (LN46A650) for the house and it is like looking thru a window rather than watching a TV!! In fact Samsung has a LN22A650 model that would fit in there OK and that is a current model that should be readily available. I have thought about one for the bedroom in the bus. Hope this helps.
