I don't know if a flap can really do much about the oil ... it's in small droplets or mist as it comes out of the slobber tubes, so it moves around in the air flow at the rear of the coach. Some with the Series 60 have rerouted the end point of the breather tube to exit on the curb side -- that would help, but its mostly intended to reduce the amount of 'stuff' pulled through the radiator. One Series 60 owner purchased a special filter and canister system that completely eliminates the oily mist... but the modification was a little more expensive than I'd want to pay (I don't know if such a system is available for the 8V92). I figures I could buy a lot of car washes for the thousand bucks...

Flap will help some on the rocks thrown up by the rear wheels ... although those thrown to the side can always take a bad bounce and end up hitting the toad.

No flap was on my coach when I got it... I believe that the typical requirement is for wheel flaps to control rain spray. Most states indicate some amount of the tire that must be covered by fenders and/or flaps. The flaps made of bristles (like a big broom) are intended primarily as rain-spray reducers.

Well, I was hoping the extra long flap would curtail some of the oil - that's to bad. Thanks for letting me know. I might still get one because it probably will cut down on the rocks - couldn't hurt anyways. And, maybe it will keep some of the oil off the toad and coach.

The Walker system is a glorified catch can.
The Racor is an enclosed system the sucks the vapors from the slobber tube port
through a filter. Then the volatile gasses are returned in the fresh air intake
to be burnt in the motor, any filtered oil is returned to the crankcase. Racor
CCV $350.00 plus some time. If you need a fix on the cheap. a gallon metal can
with a crankcase breather attached at the end of a slobber tube will work, but
that's your call..

I have a 1985 PT40 with a 6V92 and I drip a few drops of oil out of the drip tubes sometimes when I stop but I never have any signs of oil on the back of the bus or on my tow vehicle.

It would be interesting to hear from other 90-and-later 8V92 owners besids Leroy and myself. I don't know why our engines (Leroy's and mine) don't throw a lot of oil, but I know that by 1990 Detroit was well into things designed to reduce the pollution from that engine.

Jerry I have the solid one it was with the coach when I bought it. I have the 6v silver all mechanical I do have some leaks I get an oily film on the back and on the trailer. We recently replaced the line on the Rt side air drain the check valve was stuck still have to do the lt side. Several years ago I heard about a fellow who got divorced over his love of Detroit Diesel engines. Apparently the second to last straw was when he framed and hung a picture of an 8V92 in his living room. When asked what was the final reason for his divorce he said....."wife was unhappy with the picture but blew a gasket when the damn thing started to leak oil"......all DD and British Motorcycle engines perspire oil.
