HWH reservoir falling off
Last week we decided to take the coach for a two day camping trip. When we
arrived at our site, the Right rear jack would not extend. Also when we were ready to leave the right front jack would not retract fully it would hang just low enough to keep the alarm on. A couple days after arriving back home I decided to check it out. The first thing I checked was the fluid level in the jack reservoir. When I took the step cover off and looked down at where the fill should be it was not in sight. Upon further examination I found that the reservoir was tilted at about a 45degree angle. Upon crawling under the coach to check it out I found that one of the two bolts holding the tank to the frame had come out. This allowed the tank to tilt downward as it traveled downward it also took out the wiring to the right rear solonid. I was able to prop the tank back up and found a bolt that would work, I then replaced the broken wires and added about two quarts of mercron-dextron. The right rear jack then worked normal and the front right jack would retract to about two inches below normal position. After letting the coach set for a couple days the front right jack started working correctly. Can't imagine why the tank bolt came out, I think It might be a good idea when one does the lube job on the front end to check the 2 bolts that hold that tank in place. It's cool here in Illinois, we're starting to think about our winter visit to SPI, will probably leave here mid december. Bob & Carol Howald Bunker Hill, Il. 1999 LX |
