Highway guidance needed
Hi everyone. We're in Moab Utah headed for the Seattle area. Getting
to I-15 we can go west on I-70 from Green River to Salina - or we can take us-191 north from Green River, through Price and get to I-15 at Spanish Fork. The Western Mountain Directory shows three steep grade areas on I-70 from Green River to Salina. The directory does not show any difficult stretches of US-191. Does anyone have experience with either of these routes? Have you taken your bird on this stretch of I-70? Have you driven this stretch of US-191? We look forward to hearing your stories and planning our trip accordingly. Pen Sand & Jim O'Connor '83 PT35 Normal temps in Moab, 100 today. |

> accordingly. > > Pen Sand & Jim O'Connor > hi i spent 7 weeks out west this spring 191 is no problem, i headed to vail on 70 with no problem i can't image the grade going the other way steeper than Vail pass or hooser pass which our bird did with no problem. I would suggest on steep winding passes like hooser pass to unhook the tow car for really narrow or steep roads but on 70 you should have no problem guy smalley 86 pt 40 |

-You guys are looking to go up 191 from Green River, Ut. I have
traveled that road many time in the past. It's a steady pull from I-70(on 191) till you get to Price, then you will have to go over Soldier Summit. Which is pretty steep, nothing a good Bird can't do well. It's a long way down the north side of Soldier. Anyway, that is the way to go, unless you just want to go the long way. Much closer and not so many hard pulls like on I-70. Harold '85 FC35 Upham,CA. -- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "awesome_bird" > Hi everyone. We're in Moab Utah headed for the Seattle area. Howdy,
We traveled on I-70 from west to east about six weeks ago. Returning from a week in Moab, and heading towards Bryce we encountered 10K foot elevations (Ceder Breaks) and up to 14% grades without any problem. I've been on both routes you inquired about, and suggest you can take either one you wish. Just use the lower gears, set your retarder to keep the rpm's down, and take it slow. You'll find Utah as one of the best states to visit. Southern Utah is amazing, but a little hot this time of year. Hope you have time to take in the outstanding National and State parks available there. Have fun! Ron 85PT36 Northern California --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "awesome_bird" > Hi everyone.
