Amana Microwave
Pete,

We were unable to find a suitable unit the replace the Sharp
micro/convection in our 87 FC. All of the newer ovens we looked at had the fan
assembly
protruding from the rear of the unit. The depth clearance made most large
units unacceptable.

We purchased a much smaller Sharp oven from Wal-Mart for about $200. It
works fine, but generates a great deal of heat. I added a small blower in
the extra space to dissipate the heat.

BTW, there's a lot of wiring directly behind the oven on our FC.

Hope this helps,

Bill & Rita in Roanoke, VA

I have a convection microwave from Amana that does not work. Is it
generally better to try to repair this microwave or try to locate
another of the same size. It is in an 87 PT-40 and measures about 24
3/4" wide and 15 1/4" high.

Sorry about the misinformation. Mine is also a Sharp. I hate to get
another that will be a differenet size. But I may not have a
choice.

Pete:

Have you checked the fuse inside? There is also thermo unit that goes out
from time to time, it is like a diode. You have to remove the unit and
cover to check these. Might save you time and money.

Ralph,

The light comes on in the inside. No lights will light up on the
outside where the buttons are. There is a local place that I can
have look at it.
