No Shore Power
We discovered a small problem with the 'Bird after we returnerd to
the home base for Christmas. No shore power - 50a breaker tripping when reset. Replaced breaker, verified power thru cordset - garage breaker trips when powered up, even with the the main breaker in the 'Bird's panel off and the selector switch in the stairwell off. Suspect the 50a inlet, there is no arcing there but the smell of burned(ing) insulation when the circuit is on, even though the gartage breaker trips immediately after energizing the circuit. (30a cordset on 20a adapter also trips the 20a breaker in the garage box on a separate circit.) The elecctrical circuits were fine less than 10 days ago when we were last in the 'Bird. When we left the water pump was turned off and three ceramic disk heaters were plugged in, one each in the bedroom, kitchen and bath. This had protected the water lines until the latest weather in the teens... The refrigerator was plugged in to a separate cord on a ground-fault protected garage circuit (no 120v ac plug in the compartment for the fridge!?) My wife started the generator but it has insuffficent rpm to generate power, so that test of the selector switch and coach ac circuits isn't available to help diagnose the problem. I realize it's the holiday season and many are on the road and otherwise enjoying the season but any advice or trouble shooting tips would be much appreciated. Only RV parts dealer open doen't have 50a inlets available... Currently annoying the daughter and her family by sleeping on the couch in her living room. She says I snore like a pig rooting for truffles! Jim & Pam Owens 77 FC33SB (Gas) currently at the home base near St. Louis |
