Newly Purchased 82FC33 with No Dash Air Belt...Pulley Conversion for Alternator
I am the proud new owner of a near mint 82FC33. Like a lot of FC's my
AC belt is off due to belt throw problems as is so common. I have heard about using a 7/8" bore, 3 groove pulley (possible a Mack part??) on the alternator and running the AC for the dash off of it. I am really having a hard time coming up with a part number. Any help would greatly be appreciate. TIA, Joe |

Newly Purchased 82FC33 with No Dash Air Belt...Pulley Conversion for Alternator
Joe,
I agree with what Crit said. When we got our 84FC I found out the compressor was siezed and replaced that. Had an A/C guy go over it and add freon a couple of times and found out there were hose leaks between the roof condenser and the compressor. Got an estimate to replace hoses of $2,000 from Bleakley. Decided to take that money and put it toward a new diesel generator to replace my old LPG unit. Now we go down the road in the summer with the generator and the roof A/C's running and very comfortable. Dash air will only keep you cool up front on a really hot day. Moral of the story is, be careful not to throw too much money at an old system that is marginally functional. All that said, I've heard others say their systems work fine and they like em. So there you are, fair and balanced reporting, now you decide. Just like on Fox News.
